The pneumatic control module pumps air and controls the direction of the airflow using one motor. My previous design used a clutch gear to pump air and control the direction of the airflow using one motor. The clutch gear would slip once the torque exceeded a certain level. This function allows the motor to keep turning once the pneumatic switch changes the airflow direction. (more…)

The turret is built completely out of lego pieces. It uses a structural design to support the airsoft gun and keep it stable when moving. The sideways motion is controlled by a motor connected to a turn-table through a complex gearing scheme. (more…)

I built this Rube Goldberg machine over the summer of 2007. I had seen many Rube Goldberg machines in the past and had built a couple small contraptions years ago, so I decided to spend a couple days building the ultimate Rube Goldberg (maybe not the ultimate as that title goes to the music video for “This Too Shall Pass” by OK Go). Setting up the Rube Goldberg took some time, but only a fraction of the time it took to film. (more…)
